Mike currently holds the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt. In addition to Kempo, he has also trained in Wushu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Sport Karate, CDT (Compliance Direction Takedown, a non-deadly force training), and Know & Go (child safety program) in addition to several other martial arts styles.
Ken Warner
Senior Instructor
Ken Warner is a Senior Instructor at 100 Percent Martial Arts. He began his martial arts training in August of 1986. By late 1987, at the rank of Blue Belt and while still in High School, he had already begun helping teach the children's classes.
In 1989 Ken entered his Freshman year of college at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. There he started a Kempo club that endured even beyond his time at Wesleyan. Jon Metcalf, currently the owner and instructor at Integrity Martial Arts in Enfield, CT, began his training at the Wesleyan Kempo club.
Ken has been teaching martial arts professionally since graduating from college in 1993. He has taught hundreds of students of all ages over the years, and has successfully guided more than a hundred to Black Belt level. More than two dozen of Ken's students have gone on to achieve degrees of Black Belt, and more than a dozen have gone on to become instructors themselves.
From 1994 until 1998 Ken took part in a program to teach Karate to children at an inner-city elementary school in New Haven, CT. More than anything else, that experience taught Ken how powerful martial arts training can be for children.
Ken currently holds the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt. In addition to Kempo, he has also trained in Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Dragon Fist Kung Fu, Wushu, Combined and Yang style Tai Chi, and has had limited training in Aikido and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He actively practices Kempo, Wah Lum and Yang style Tai Chi. He has extensive training in classical Chinese weapons (including staff, spear, straight sword, broadsword, 3-section staff, Kwan Dao, whip chain, double broadsword and more) as well as Okinawan weapons.
